“With the ‘Quick To Learn’ video we wanted to do something that captures the colorful and eclectic vibe of our city which is (somehow) simultaneously both laid back and edgy,” commented Bobby Blunders. “We purposely avoided showing well documented landmarks as well as the beach in order to showcase a more neighborhood-centric, insider view of Long Beach. We were interested in making something that seemed to have an underlying thread or narrative but was just as devoted to mystery. Director Vice Cooler really helped us flesh these ideas out. We chose to work with him since I had previously had a good experience working with him (on Free Moral Agents rendition of ‘Little Trouble Girl’) and am a fan of work he’s done for Peaches, Deerhoof, Mocky, Lee Renaldo, etc.”
“Quick To Learn” is taken from the band’s loving imposter EP, which is available through Bandcamp.
Upcoming Shows:
12/28 – Long Beach, CA at Alex’s Bar w/ Avi Buffalo, Asi Fui, and Regular Sex
1/2 – Venice, CA at Del Monte Speakeasy
About the band:
Bobby Blunders started as a home recording project of Jesse Carzello (Free Moral Agents) in 2006. After several years of honing his songwriting and arranging chops, producing a proliferation of elaborate 8-track demos, Jesse decided to attempt a proper album.
This time instead of performing all of the music and handling all of the recording duties on his own, he recruited 30 or so of his musical peers (mostly culled from the diverse and vibrant Long Beach music scene) to help bring the songs to life. The resulting album ‘best neighborhood band’, is an exercise in soulful, rhythm-centric, psychedelic pop that the LA Record referred to as ‘a rich and textured sonic universe, deftly melding synthesizers, horns, an ace drum section and full, soulful vocals.’
Bobby Blunders is now a live ensemble bringing their engaging, ecstatic experience to adventurous audiences everywhere and anywhere. The current band features mainstays vocalists Tiffany Davy and AJ ‘Pastor Freeman’ Butler, and multi-instrumentalist Michael J. Salter.
The band is currently promoting their follow-up loving imposter EP and beginning pre-production for LP2.
