We’re pleased to bring you the premiere of Carli Naff’s music video for her song “Clean” (watch it below). The track is taken from her debut EP Horrible Talker. You can purchase/stream the single through iTunes/Apple Music, Spotify and all other major digital distributors.
Naff commented on the song/video:
Making this music video was an eye opening experience. It helped me to realize that, even though I’m singing to someone else in the song, the only person I had to confront was myself. This video is about that journey inside.
About the artist:
Carli Naff is a singer songwriter from Phoenix, Arizona. When she moved to New York in 2015 to pursue a career in acting, she had never written a song before. She struggled to find creative fulfillment in auditioning, so took to busking in the echoey subway tunnels underneath New York City. After several experiences with love, addiction, heartbreak, loss, and growth, she realized that she had 25 years worth of unwritten songs waiting to pour out of her.
She then partnered with friend and producer David Hagen to create an indie folk-rock sound which has been likened to Phoebe Bridgers, Fleetwood Mac, and Angel Olsen.
At the time she began writing for the record, Carli had been struggling on and off with a vocal injury. She found that, in uncovering her artistic voice, she began to heal her physical and her inner voice. Her upcoming debut EP is entitled Horrible Talker after an eventful appointment with a voice doctor, and it is the first collection of songs she’s ever written. Horrible Talker expresses the pain one feels when muting their own voice.
While in production of the record, Carli was approached by local guitarist Russell Castiglione after (almost) making him cry at an open mic performance. He and long-time band-mate Austin Deyo (drums) enthusiastically became the first members of Naff’s band. They were later joined by Naff’s close friends, Alex Lemonier (keys) and Kallan Campbell (bass).
Carli’s music has been featured in the short film Night’s Melody (Random Light Prod.) and the web series Half Honey (Sparkle Fairy Prod.) for which she wrote the theme song.
