Bandcamp of the Day: Show You Suck

Show You Suck

Chicago hip hop artist and noted DIY denizen Clinton Sandifer, better known as Show You Suck, has recently gotten back into the recording game, releasing fuzzy, funky, and moody self-produced and released loops via Bandcamp. The last full album Clinton delivered was his 2016 collaboration with Hood Internet under the name Air Credits. The explanation for this period of inactivity seems to be as uncomplicated as the man had a life to live and music just didn’t factor into his grind. It’s good to have him back though, with the vanquishing of his creative dry spell producing a lively little EP titled Comfy,Cozy,Cardigan,Cutie. The first track “AIR MAX 85” is a dry run of gangster gratifying beats cresting under juicy, game-hocking bars, divided periodically by geysers of self-regurgitating loops. “AIR FRYER XL” is a spongy upbeat frolic that transitions seamlessly into the fractured fusion jazz splice of “Mode.” Finally, the tightly sequenced, murmur cycle and pop mashup “MAGNOLIA” winds things down with a beautifully bantery, plunder pop outro. Let’s hope he keeps these good vibes coming!
