Theomachia are a metal project based in Italy and gearing up to release their new EP, The Theosophist, due out February 4.
The record manifests a looming darkness and carries out this theme throughout the three-track record.
Intro track “Gnothi Seauton” is a song that seems to move swiftly by emphasizing use of heavy guitars and grunting, deep, growling vocals. The track introduces a dynamic switch in its outro, making for a perfect close.
“The Suicide of the Demiurge” submerges listeners ears in a cinematic feel. Vocals showcase their ability to explore different tempos through talking so light that it could almost be a deep whisper. This song flirts with different elements of music, making for a good contrast between it and the previous track.
The EP closes out with title track, “The Theosophist,” large in sound, making for the perfect ending. Vocals echo in filling the EP’s theme of distorted sound played in an organized order.
The Theosophist will leave fans curious to see what the band has to offer, following their journey for the continuing of their career.
