The Canadian-American ambient artist Vision Eternel describes his sound as melogaze, a contemplative confluence of starward glancing shoegaze and ambient post-rock, inspired by classic celluloid melodramas and the petite emotional-schisms of modern living.
Preferring the format of EP’s over LP’s, Vision Eternel has composed many deep and complex releases over the years, of which For Farewell Of Nostalgia is the sixth and latest. Drawing upon the experiences of heartache as a wounded muse, the graciously soft and moving album is a mediation on the cycles of love and loss, and how each stinging pain to the heart is a reminder of one’s growing resilience.
As we settle into the depths of another cold and cautiously, claustrophobic winter, it’s freeing to have music to listen to that is capable of collapsing the confines of our current enclosures. Music that can remind us of the thrills and hard lessons random encounters with our fellow human creatures can offer. Music that says so much, with its mere mood and presence, without uttering a single word.
