Von Schmaltzy is a goth-rock project based out of Ohio who has recently released his EP, Vying Light on February 4.
The record features tracks such as “Vivacious,” the song oozes echoing effects that swarm around stand-out emotional vocals.
“Rat-Race” comes in with a movie track sound with a twist of darkness to it. Vocals are spacious carrying out an atmosphere that is portrayed in the track that came before it.
Follow-up track “Eternal Depths” swirls in releasing a cosmic surge of musical sounds.
The record closes out on title track “Vying Light,” the track shows the artist’s ability to create dynamics within his sound, with ascending sounds, closing out the EP on a curious note.
The EP puts a unique spin on goth-rock, arranging elements differently. Von Schmaltzy boils his genre down to its core with aggressive bass, distant drums, roaring synths and strings, alongside vast vocals.
