Hardcore band, Wrong War has released a new record Once Upon a Weapon.
The record, will be released as a split label release between Atomic Action Records and Council Records.
Wrong War will celebrate the release with a matinee show at Pub 78 in Brookfield, with all proceeds benefiting The LeaderShop, learn more about the mission to empower youth to become leaders in their community.
Wrong War, influenced by the Chicago and Detroit scenes they came up in, certainly gives a nod to classic DC punk and the Dischord Records releases of that time. The band has drawn direct comparisons to Articles of Faith, Crucifix, Battalion of Saints, and Born Against. The band manifests politically charged punk-rock. “Where Fixed Against Forever was more about dealing with the new forms of division sown by these times and circumstances, Once Upon a Weapon takes a closer look at the associated consequences a bit further down the road. Repetitive and meaningless corporate messaging, distractions sapping our strength and intelligence, the death rattle of diseased thought, and the cult of victimhood are all things this album lyrically explores. ” said the band regarding their records. “We envisioned the album as a sort of sinister storybook that poses the question – who is holding the weapon doing you the most harm?”
Since their debut, Wrong War has played a handful of East Coast dates, including a memorable performance at the Atomic Action Farm in Rhode Island, supported Detroit hardcore kings Negative Approach and were the first band to play at the new location for Chicago’s legendary Double Door.
