French rockers The Blue Marmalades are celebrating one month since the release of their debut EP Inside My Brain, which has been winning over new fans with its unique modern take on vintage styles of rock, merging psychedelic rock with Asian-influeced elements and poignant lyrics. To celebrate the success that the EP has seen so far, the band wanted to talk a little bit about how they created their unusual album cover.

“For the album artwork, we wanted something artistic and abstract that could connect our six tracks. Nothing specific was defined.
“During the recording session, Florent had the camera and took several pictures of our stage carpet. This carpet has a real history, coming from a palace near Annecy, France, which was inspiring to us. Made up of old drawings of flowers and animals, the challenge was to start with these elements to produce something psychedelic, made of textures. It had to be consistent with the title of the EP. It was post-production that made it possible.
“Florent applied filters to two carefully chosen photos and superimposed them. The result was immediate. Both contemporary and vintage, everyone can see what they want in this artwork. We see neuronal connections.”
