Hatchet have hit the road for a tour across the United States opening for Doyle, and in the spirit of keeping the world informed, we’re hosting a tour diary with the band. Check out the second entry below, and go here for all their tour dates and ticket info.
Captain’s Log: Chapter 2

It’s the morning of Monday, September 28. The musk of the van has permeated every pore in my body. The dirt under my nails is multiplying by the minute. I have a raging headache from definitely not drowning my sorrows in $1 PBR’s, which I hate, last night in West Virginia. Why am I out here again?
Oh yeah…

I left off last week in Trenton. Following out last show with Lich King, and a fairly uneventful headliner in Rhode Island, it was FINALLY time to meet up with Doyle and The Family Ruin in Poughkeepsie NY. The Chance Theater reminds me a lot of the Warfield in San Fran…if it was built in 1926 and subsequently showered in atom bombs of rock bands and plywood renovations for the next 90 years. And I mean that as a compliment – I really would have felt like a part of history if the stage collapsed during one of The Family Ruin’s hearty breakdowns. Oh! And someone forgot to tell us that one of the locals dropped, so we have 30 second notice to get on stage. Playing earlier doesn’t bother me at all – but as an open letter to local bands who drop shows: unless someone is in the hospital, please just break up. The music industry is oversaturated enough with so many good bands fighting for a piece of the pie; you dying off leaves a bigger slice for bands that actually give a shit.
Moving on…

The next day we headline a show in Allentown PA. Nice.
Moving on…
Now we’re back with Doyle in West Virginia. It’s a lovely, grungy little place called Muncheez on the side of a highway. The kind of punk rock, potentially-cockroach-infested venue where you eat the food because you’re on the touring package and it’s built into your guarantee. I absolutely adore the people in this state…except for the staff that immediately seems irritated that our food is on the house because they don’t think they’re getting tipped. Bad idea bartender, I’m a server back home and I would have paid you fairly had you treated me fairly. #endrant
But in all seriousness, holy shit Southern Hospitality is alive and well! Everyone here is always so polite and ultimately grateful for the tour coming to their city. Thank you from the bottom of my heart, lovely town-folk of Beckley, WV.
Tomorrow’s another headliner in Kentucky. Party on, Garth.
