It is August and that means that This Is My Fest 3 is only a little more than a month away! For those of you that have not heard of the This Is My Fest, the event is a weekend-long punk festival that will place in Oakland, California from September 15 – September 18, 2016 in different clubs all over the city.

So we invited members of bands who are playing the TIM Fest this year to create a playlists that consist only of songs by other bands playing the festival to help attendees get prepared for it. And if you can’t make it out to Oakland this year, you might just find your next favorite band!

Tickets for TIM Fest 3 and all of the other information you need can be found here and get the latest updates by following the event’s Facebook page.

Our first playlist comes from Sam King of Get Dead, who just released their new album  Honesty Lives Elsewhere through Fat Wreck Chords on July 29, 2016. Here is what Sam had to say about This Is My Fest and the songs he chose:

“We have had the privilege to play with a majority of the TIM line up throughout the years and just to be clear I whole-heartedly mean ‘privilege.’ These bands have become woven into the fabric shaping who I am in one way or another. Whether it be meeting up randomly on a bill in some random country bringing much needed familiarity to a rough trip , touring together, drinking together, grieving or celebrating we have all done it together. I’ve been lucky enough to see the start and the awesome rise of a few of em and couldn’t be more proud of these crazy psychotic beautiful humans.

I recently ran into Ricky from Western Settings in a bar late night on the eve of my wedding 600 miles away from home. He is the prime example of what I’m getting at. Genuine, honest, true to the things he spits and a complete madman.  These characteristics are true for all these bands. These are some of our favorite tracks from our adopted family. Honesty lives here.”
