Stomach Earth is the brainchild of Mike Mckenzie, who is also the guitarist of The Red Chord. A few years ago, he decided he wanted to sit down and write some heavy funeral doom stuff by himself, originally under the name Nyarlathotep. Mike wrote a lot of music under this handle that was mostly only heard by him and a few friends. Guy Kozowyk (Vox in The Red Chord) convinced him to do a full-length and put it out. Now that the record is finished, Mike says, “It seems more likely that I will put out more material.” The record was recorded at his home studio in Salem, MA, which he calls “The Black Coast.” On top of Stomach Earth, Mike has been busy with The Red Chord, and a new band he joined called Nightkin, which features a few ex- members of The Black Dahlia Murder.
