Brooklyn, New York’s Netherlands are currently on an East Coast with tour Mouth Of The Architect after releasing their new album Audubon, which came out on Prosthetic Records earlier this year. For their tour diary they have graciously let us in on what has been going on during their trip with photos instead of a long written diary. Check out the pics and what the band has to say about the end of the tour below.

Photo Tour Diary #4:

ATLANTA
The drive from Raleigh to Atlanta was a bit longer so we arrived just before doors. All the shows were fun/ intense, as usual. one particular highlight (in retrospect, as I was a little pissed at first) was this giant, insane dude named Big Mike tagging the van with “we’re on the road to nowhere 🙂 ” (see pic) .. now I think it’s kind of the best thing ever, but at first I was a little bummed that someone would actually draw on my car while I was more or less standing right next to them
Afterwards a bunch of people went to the famous Clermont lounge (*the place apparently where, “strippers go to die”) and got into all manner of debauchery/ lap dances, etc. in the morning Ava discovered some sort of brown spooge on her shirt that she could not trace the origins of. Everyone clearly had a great time, I personally feel like I dodged a bullet here as I don’t drink/ just went to our hotel/ was able to avoid being wretchedly hung over/ spooged on
NASHVILLE
The Savannah gig got canceled due to the hurricane so we all went to Nashville a day early. On the way we discovered that Meshuggah and High On Fire were playing that night so we excitedly bought tickets online and went straight to the venue. High On Fire is always fantastic, just punishingly great…but  Meshuggah was…I don’t know how else to put it… just completely fucking ridiculous. murderously intense, but also so fluid and relaxed, and with a mindblowingly great light show. easily one of the best shows I’ve ever seen, and definitely in the top five metal shows I’ve ever seen (plus I actually got a guitar pick that Matt Pike tossed out at the end of their set!! SOWEEET! *see pic(k) 🙂
The next morning we ate + kind of leisurely putzed around, Ava took a minor detour/adventure at the Grand Ole Opry, where she got some great pictures and a guitar pick from there as well.
The show(s) at The End were fun again, and at the end of the night we went over to crash at our friends Grant and Karen’s place in Madison; Grant runs Big Ear, a rad boutique pedal company, and has a gigantic collection of pedals which I ogled the next morning. We also met their rabbits, Chase and Pam, and marveled at how cute and totally weird they are
LOUISVILLE —> HOME
We arrived in Louisville late afternoon at what appeared to be an old-school rock bar, the Mag Bar- with a great punk rock jukebox and pizza place next-door. Locals Waxeater opened and they were ferocious and fun- then Zvi for the deep macabre, always super intense. We played and then MOTA crushed it, as usual.  Even after only a few days you really develop an affinity for people on a tour, and in this case everyone was warm and fucking hilarious- overall a gas/ great experience!! Huge gratitude to Zvi and MOTA for the great vibes and fantastic music!  PEACE

More on Netherlands:

Genre-bending New York-based band Netherlands sets out to share what VICE’s Noisey describes as “their own consistently excellent brand of punktastic choogle” in support of its latest album, Audubon, released on Prosthetic Records June 17th.Formed in 2009 by acclaimed multi-instrumentalist Timo Ellis – whose dedication to the NYC art and music scene has seen him appear on almost 100 albums (including notable recordings and collaborations with Yoko Ono, The Melvins, John Zorn, Weenand Gibby Haynes) – the band is rounded out with Zach Eichenhorn on drums andAva Farber on synthbass. Credited for “ushering in a new wave of metal pop” (Noisey) with their “super fuzzed stoner rock” (CMJ), the band has played throughout New York with zealous incendiary live performances that recall the brutality of hardcore along with foreboding atmospheric elements reminiscent of the early proto-metal greats. Having an expansive three dimensional style of work, the band has supported a range of acts including Napalm Death, Melt Banana, Mutoid Man and The Giraffes.

After a handful of recent shows with bands Retox and Spotlights, Netherland’s shows throughout October were in support of Mouth of the Architect. Here, crowds had the chance to see what Metal Injection described as “2016’s version of that band that everyone pretends they’ve been listening to all along, lest they have to admit that something this potent and immanently accessible has eluded their crate digger radar up until now.”
