Rivals Tour Diary #2

Rivals are a band that needs to be on everyone’s radar. Their live show is electrifying and their music is charged with energy. Earlier this year the group released their latest stunner of a record, Damned Soul. The record is full of vivacious hooks, twisting melodies and heavy emotional waves. The group have attracted a ton of press lately, jumping on tour with The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus and doing a few festivals along the way. New Noise Magazine is pleased to have Rivals dig into their lives on the road with this exclusive tour diary series!

“We sight saw a lot on this tour since we rarely get to hit the east coast, so we took the opportunity and looked around! We spent the night after our show in New York City going to Time Square, taking the subway, and eating copious amounts of New York style pizza (we’re a Chicago pizza band, but still good nonetheless). We had three days off in Philly which we also spent hanging out. Micket and Josh went to FDR Skatepark and just explored for the day while Seb and I just kind of relaxed. We also all went out to a cool dive-ish bar and ate like 100 cheesesteaks haha.

Our next days off were spent in Nashville, which is where I actually live, so I got to spend some time with the BF. We also went out to my favorite bar there called Bar Sovereign right by Rocketown, and walked around Broadway a little bit as well! We also got to hang out with the boys in Born A New while they recorded their new full length at my place!

We’ve been out on tour with The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus and have spent almost this entire year with them. It’s very bittersweet that it’s coming to an end, but getting to play in front of so many new people, getting to talk to all the people who came to our merch booth, and all the hugs have been so great. So thank you to everyone who has come out, seen us, supported us and even just said hello! Now I’m currently in the van writing this as we drive to Washington DC. We have a bunch of headlining dates coming up as well as iMatter Festival in Horseheads, New York on August 12th where we’ll be playing alongside Underoath, August Burns Red, and a ton of other great bands! See everyone there!” – Kalie
