Tour Diary #5 – Sundressed On The “Let’s Try This Again” Tour

Sundressed On The “Let’s Try This Again” Tour

Sundressed have embarked on their “Let’s Try This Again” Tour (see dates below), and we’re proud to partner with the band to host a tour diary as they progress through their travels. Check out the fourth entry below, and stay tuned for more. Be sure to check them out if they’re coming to a city near you, and read all previous tour diary entries here.

From Trevor:

Sorry it’s been so long! It feels like we have had super long drives overnight almost every day and our sleep schedules have been crazy. We are now in the Northeast where the drives are short and the tolls are plentiful, but the shows are amazing! Let me back track a little bit.

After our home show in Phoenix, we had a NM show and 3 Texas shows to wrap up the leg with Daisyhead and Secret Stuff. In Dallas we played with some incredible locals, Caterpillars and Better Now…. Please check them out! We also got to play Austin and Houston with our label mates locket who were great, its always amazing to see them. We stayed at a friends in Austin and unfortunately thought it was a good idea to park in the grass, which turned into mud, and eventually, after we all got covered in mud trying to get the van unstuck, we had to call a tow truck and get pulled out. It was super embarrassing.

Our last show with DH and SS was in Houston and it was definitely bittersweet. It was the best Texas crowd we had all tour, and our three sets were full of us jumping up and yelling on each others songs. The tour package lifted me up to crowd surf during our last song . The bonds you make with bands you travel with are amazing. Some of my best friends have been made this way. There’s something about being surrounded by people who are really just trying to do the same thing you are. We have been very lucky in our touring history.

Speaking of making bonds on the road, after a rad solo show in New Orleans, we met up with Northbound in Florida. I LOVE NORTHBOUND! Jon is an amazing songwriter who has a way of inviting his listeners in to interpret his message in their own way. Our first show in Jacksonville got cancelled due to some promoter/venue miscommunication. But a northbound fan invited us to their house to do an acoustic show, which ended up being really cool . It was rad to hear Jon’s songs stripped down.

The next three shows with northbound were sweaty and incredible. It was cool to be the support act and see Northbound’s fans showing up in numbers to scream along. I really hope we get to do more shows with them in the future.

After saying goodbye to Northbound way too soon, We made the jump from South Carolina to meet up with Casey Bolles and The Other Stars. Casey is an incredibly captivating acoustic singer/songwriter, and The Other Stars are a pretty new band, but based on their songs, you’d think theyre veterans. We always love playing the northeast because basement shows are where we are most comfortable. Baltimore and Philly were great as always.

New York City was crazy because we got to play the studio at webster hall. Other than our Phoenix show, this was the first show where we got a full soundcheck, meal vouchers, drink tickets, etc. Which is always nice, and we got to be in the city. I am the only band member who has spent some time in the city, so the rest of the guys went off to do some exploring while I relaxed to get ready for the show. The attendance at the show was a lot better than expected and it ended up being a great night.

We are now down to the final week or so of shows and reality of being home has set it. I’ve been working on signing a new lease with some friends for a house in Tempe and finding a second job to be able to save up for the next tour. Tour has this sort of comforting uncertainty and I’m really not looking forward to being home and being a barista. 31 days have flown by, so I’m going to savor the next week.
