For the first time of its existence, Woopsie Fest is taking place the weekend of October 21st-23rd. The festival will be held in St. Louis at The Fubar, just a couple miles away from the historic St. Louis Arch. Born out the efforts of Constant Cocoon Booking, it will bring together the St. Louis community for three days of friends, friends of friends, and friends of friends of friends. Earlier this year two touring acts asked for a show the same day. Constant Cocoon joked about forming an accidental fest around it. While the original Woopsie Fest came from a desire from Constant Cocoon to support musicians as they pass though St. Louis.
There’s a lot of excitement for the Festival for New Noise Magazine, bringing coverage of the D.I.Y. built weekend. I am extremely excited to be reunited with friends I have done tours with across the country this year, taking place in a city I will be visiting for the fourth time and seeing bands I have been listening to for a couple of years now.
When asked about the feeling right now, Kirin Pax of Constant Cocoon Booking said, “Right now absolutely terrifying! It’s really crazy. Patches and I have only been booking consistently for about a year and a half and this is by far the largest thing we’ve ever put on. There’s been a lot of people who’ve offered their support to us and the community coming together over this makes me feel really blessed.” Still, there is plenty of excitement to go around, “I am most excited to see all my out of town friends! There’s going to be so many selfies taken. I am ready to see them dance to the music of their friends or find new bands they didn’t know they loved. One of my favorite parts about booking shows has always been overhearing people gush about how good a band is that they hadn’t previously heard before.”
When asked if this will be annual, Kirin Pax stated, “I would like for it to be. I have already started to make a list of bands I would like to ask for next year and a few of the headliners I asked about playing this year expressed interest in playing next year.” Stay tuned folks.
