Contention Nuclear Summer Daze Records

Floridian SXE metallic hardcore goliath, Contention, just nailed a killer set last weekend at Sound & Fury 2026. The hot sun roasting band and fans alike. Spinkicks and windmills  spraying sweat from fans sneering through the dust and dirt flying. Contention’s stark declarations pierce ears over caustic riffs channeling All Out War, One King Down, Walls Of Jericho, Integrity and peers such as Scarab, Inclination, and main homies Domain. At S&F 26, Contention made CDs to announce the explosive two new songs. Today, those two devastating tracks are joined by The Swarm (aka Knee Deep In The Dead) covers and driven into wax. Nuclear Summer spans five minutes of searing terror served by Daze Records.

Contention’s lyrics are vivid descriptions of the final conflict, the incendiary acts of self-destruction manifesting. Vocalist Cosmo Vidussi demands to these malcontents to evade a vapid existence. The music fits that assignment with precision. The two tracks are foreboding chords of chaos engulfing skulls with portentous dread. You can endure the existential beating as Armageddon revels around you on these dates:

9/25 Gainesville, FL @ The Ox
9/26 Daytona Beach, FL @ Nightshift Party Weekend @ Iron Horse Saloon

w/ Pain Of Truth, Madball, Rotting Out, xforever warx
Nov 12 – Nashville, TN @ Eastside Bowl
Nov 13 – Atlanta, GA @ The Masquerade – Hell
Nov 14 – Tampa, FL @ The Orpheum
Nov 16 – Miami, FL @ Lincoln’s Beard

On the messaging of Nuclear Summer, Vidussi states:

“Modernity brings no enlightenment, only more refined methods of annihilation. Annihilation of the enemy. Annihilation of the self. Our leaders have shed their increasingly thin facades of humanity. The masses shamble through life in a drug and media fueled haze. They worship a machine that grinds them to dust and uses them for fuel. Cities are leveled in our name. Bombs are assembled with our tax dollars. We’re held hostage by a small group of deranged degenerates with nuclear arsenals and a lust for ruin.

Are these the final days? Or is the suffering of modernity only a single day swallowed by a quarter eon of unchecked brutality?

Nuclear Summer, hardcore for the end times.”
