Powerhouse vocalist and songwriter Craig Owens will release VOLUME 1, a collection of songs, out August 18 on Velocity Records. On the album, Owens has brought new life to favorites from his vast catalog of work, featuring reimagined takes on Chiodos, Destroy Rebuild Until God Shows, Isles & Glaciers, and badXchannels songs, as well as an exclusive, unreleased, original track.
Having already shared a gorgeous piano rendition of the Chiodos track “Baby, You Wouldn’t Last A Minute On The Creek,” today Owens shares “Cemetery Weather” which he originally performed as part of Isles & Glaciers, stemming from the 2010 album The Hearts Of Lonely People. An incredibly emotional love song, one can hear the pining in Owens’ vocals hitting every high note, accompanied by a rich and tender piano arrangement.
Speaking on the lyrics, Owens stated:
“‘Cemetery Weather’ is a song about desperation, longing, and an unwavering commitment to a love that is both consuming and potentially destructive. It’s about the fear of absence and the desire to be buried close together with that person, and a need for a lasting, eternal bond that lasts even beyond death.”
VOLUME 1 was recorded, produced, engineered, and mixed by Steve Evetts (The Dillinger Escape Plan, The Wonder Years) and mastered by Alan Douches at West Side Mastering.
The record is an incredible journey through Owens’ writing and performance ability, through reimagined acoustic and piano versions of songs spanning 18 years of work. It is available for preorder now though Velocity Records and the full track list can be viewed below.
