The darkness can be an intriguing place. It sparks thoughts of the unknown while the macabre and taboo are embraced. Boston noir punk duo The Devil’s Twins explore that and more with their new music video for the song “Satan Stone” that was released on July 28. Collaborating with fellow Bostonian hip-hop artist Slaine, there’s a dose of diversity added to a bluesy and haunting song. With Boston video and photography company Hive.Studio handling the directing, visuals of pythons along with church murals are very poignant. It’s also emphatic and hard-hitting with Jeremiah John Louf and Nicole Marie Coogan’s vocals along with Louf’s riffs on guitar.

“It’s the unidentifiable “something” inside of the few of us, “says Louf on the meaning behind the song and video. ”An inherent darker side that changes the lens we look through. What makes us keen to the darker, morbid side of life? What makes someone wear black? Because there’s no term for this foreboding trait, we took the liberty of calling it a “Satan Stone.” The hook is written about someone trying to “help” you by taking it from you, but it’s something that cannot be taken away. Maybe there’s a satan stone inside all of us, maybe some people hide it better.”

“Satan Stone” will be on the band’s upcoming fourth album American Noir Vol. 1, due out on August 26. For now, check out the video and grab a copy of the album when it’s released.
