About the band:
Elephant Gun Riot, formed in 2013, features vocalist Caitlin Rose, guitarists and brothers Zach Wirchak and Sean Ciolli, bassist Patrick Rooks, and drummer Mike Lowe. In 2014 the band released its debut EP Sic Infit, featuring fan favorites like “Daydream” and “Crossroads.” Throughout 2014 and 2015, Elephant Gun Riot made a name for themselves as one of the most intense, hardest hitting, and tightest live bands in the region, sharing the stage with the like of Sick Puppies, Lacuna Coil, Gemini Syndrome, Buckcherry, Eyes Set To Kill and Otherwise among many others. Elephant Gun Riot released their debut full length self-titled album during the summer of 2016, featuring the singles “Tonight” and “Driven,” as well as an acoustic EP during early 2017.
EGR spent 2016 and 2017 touring all over the Pacific Northwest to support the release of these albums, sharing the stage with Adelitas Way, Black Stone Cherry, Stitched Up Heart, Like A Storm, Art of Dying, Letters from the Fire, and more. In September 2017, the band took part in the inaugural Tinnabulation Music Festival, which included headliners OK GO, John Butler Trio, and American Authors.
On November 14th, 2017, Elephant Gun Riot released their new EP, Sirens Call, featuring the songs “Castaway” and “Sword from Stone.” The idea behind the SIRENS CALL EP was to tell a cohesive sonic story, displaying the sound that the band had cultivated over time. “On our previous releases, we started to develop a sound unique to us, but the song styles varied greatly: from songs with a pop feel and clean guitar parts to songs with constant, fast double bass drum beats with heavy guitar riffs all the way through,” says drummer, Mike Lowe. “On Sirens Call, we wanted to focus on the vocals: deliver catchy modern rock songs with great hooks that still respect our heavy music roots.” Vocalist, Caitlin Rose adds “Whenever we write a batch of songs and prepare to record them, we always do a complete round of pre-production on our own. We have the means to record demos ourselves, so by the time we hit the recording studio, the songs for Sirens Call were completely written. We’re always open to spontaneous in-the-moment changes in the studio though. “
The EP was recorded at Rainbow Trout Studios in Spokane, WA with Bill Nieman engineering and mixing, with additional vocal production provided by Dan Schmedding. The EP was mastered by Lasse Lammert at LSD Studio in Lubeck, Germany.
