We’re pleased to bring you the premiere of Elessar UK’s music video for their song “Saudade” (watch it below). The track is taken from the band’s forthcoming EP Is This All We Are, which is scheduled to be released on April 27, 2018.
Elessar UK vocalist and guitarist Ricky Powell comments:
‘Saudade’ is my favourite song from the EP! It’s a totally different type of track for us, one that we really tried to experiment with. The chorus definitely holds a lot of meaning for me personally too. We were very fortunate to begin writing it with our friend George Tyreman at Homefire Studios who helped with the opening guitar section, and since then we all knew it would go on to be a single. The video for it was directed and recorded by Ross Hannon at Aytball Film and I think he managed to capture the mood of the song perfectly! Hopefully people like the slight change in style, as it’s a direction we can see ourselves heading in for the future.
About the band:
Formed in 2016, Elessar UK have already amassed a reputation for delivering energetic and passionate live performances. With a clear focus on touring relentlessly across the UK, the band have shared stages with Boston Manor, Crooks, and Alvarez Kings, and toured with Altered Sky and Speaking in Shadows. In April 2016, the industrious quartet released their debut EP, Reflections, which was produced by Romesh Dodangoda (Kids in Glass Houses, Funeral for a Friend, The Blackout). The EP was greeted with much praise from the UK underground and further solidified the foursome’s emerging status.
Elessar UK’s forthcoming sophomore EP, Is This All We Are, truly raises the bar. Produced by Matt O’Grady (You Me At Six, Deaf Havana, Don Broco), the release promises to elevate the band to new heights. Ricky Powell (Vocals and Guitar) remarks about the EP: “Is This All We Are Is definitely our most personal work to date. We wanted to focus on a record that went deeper emotionally than we have ever gone before, something that people can relate to. I tried to focus the writing around dealing with love and loss a lot more and getting over anxiety and trust issues that thousands of people face every day.” With five slabs of engulfing emo alt-rock, the EP unites hooky choruses with expansive and inventive guitar lines, framed by muscular rhythm work that will blow the roof off. From their opener single, “Half Love” (watch video below), to their single “In All Honesty” (watch video below ), and the new single, “Saudade,” the EP genuinely shows Elessar UK’s unique sound and undeniable ability.
