Equipment Premieres Debut EP ‘Chump’

Toledo Ohio based project Equipment has premiered their brand new debut EP Chump. The EP will be released on two labels, All Sounds and Counter Intuitive Records. Their first single “Commuter” was released for free download on Bandcamp. Commuter is a perfect introduction, in under three minutes Equipment cycles through jazzy arpeggios, fuzzed out powerchords, and heart-on-sleeve lyrics, all about the commuter college angst.

“I wrote the EP on and off for about 2 and a half years, but I still remember where I was emotionally when I wrote each song”, said 19 brainchild of Equipment Nick Stoup. “Some lyrics were even tweaked and expanded on years after starting to write them, since a lot of situations and feelings I had started to repeat themselves.” He continues, ““On this EP, I really tried to capture and articulate the situations I was living in at the time of writing: getting stuck in relationships I shouldn’t have been in, losing friends to college, and making rash choices after drinking alone. But don’t worry I made it sound really fun!”

Equipment is the pop-rock project of 19 year old Nick Stoup, who does his best to translate more personal feelings and experiences into catchy, hook-laden power pop songs. Formed while Nick was still in high school and based in Toledo Ohio, he often collaborates with other local musicians both in-studio and on-stage. His debut EP Chump, produced by Toledo rock group Secret Space (Equal Vision Records) is a 5 song, 12 minute gut punch of catchy melodies and fuzzy guitars. Due out 11/25 on All Sounds and Counter Intuitive Records, Chump calls to mind pop-rock giants Weezer, Green Day, Modern Baseball, Car Set Headrest, and kind of even Big Star, put stays humble with its down to earth lyrics.
