We’re pleased to bring you the exclusive stream of In Defence‘s new track “Tacos Til Death.” The song is taken from the band’s album Don’t Fuck With The Dungeon Master.
“This song is a declaration of war against the pizza loving industry, and their efforts to brainwash the masses into buying that abomination that they still have the audacity to call “food” will no longer be tolerated. For far too long the Taco has been belittled and under-represented. This will go on no longer. Today is our day. We are legion. Tacos Till Death.”
While you stream the new track, check out the tour diary below from In Defence’s US tour earlier this year.
2/3 – Des Moines, IA
The Underground Rock Shop w/ Traffic Death, Dark Mirror, Nancy Grace Death Squad, Ghostbusters
Des Moines is always a raging time. I don’t think we’ve ever played a bad show there. My mic stand got moshed into my picking hand, where it swelled up instantly and made the rest of our set extremely painful to play for me. Ben spent the entire last song of our set on all fours, providing audience a launch platform for some of the best stage dives the Midwest has to offer. Spent the night at Garan from Traffic Death/Dark Mirror’s house where he made us chili and we waxed philosophical about all sorts of ill shit. Later on Dani and I went to the drive-thru of a 24- hour Mexican joint at 2 in the morning because we’re the masters of our own destinies, and ordered our first official burritos of tour. The most I’ve gotten over the course of a tour before was 50-something burritos. Not sure if I’ll try to keep count this time around. A+ night.
2/4 – Kansas City, MO
Art Closet Studios + Vandals
We played two shows in one day. Went to crash at our buddy Frank’s house afterwards and Kevin rapped along to “Be a Man” and “Perfect Friend” by Macho Man Randy Savage. It was really impressive, he knew every lyric. He was so hyped on the songs that he ended up elbow dropping and knee slamming one of the fellow partygoers on the floor. I capped the night off by slow dancing with Kevin to country music.
2/6 – Dallas, TX
Three Links w/ Wildspeaker
Kevin got everybody’s drink tickets and drank 15 beers himself. We all partied with Doomtree on their bus after the show. They fed Kevin tequila. Didn’t have a place to stay and ran into three folks who said we could crash with them. Besides providing us a place to sleep, which in of itself ruled hard, they cooked for us, gave some of the dudes beer, etc. This is why DIY Punk/Metal/weirdo shit rules. You get to meet the coolest, nicest people ever.
2/7 – Austin, TX
House Show w/ Ghost Patrol
During the show a kid threw a firecracker into the pit. The house owner proceeded to kick him out with the quickness. After the show we went to downtown Austin and Kevin pulled his pants down and mooned/spread his ass cheeks at the patrons of a particular venue that we won’t name. We wandered around some more and ended up dancing in a club. Lucas is a really good dancer, can twerk with the best of them. We were the only long hairs in the club.
2/8 – San Antonio, TX
The Korova w/ Greedy Mouth, Sudden Attack, Bloodfuckers, Tonsils
San Antonio always rages. Non-stop circle pits throughout the set. There was a couple here that drove from three hours away to see us. Stuff like that helps remind us why we do what we do, and we’re truly thankful for people like that and being privileged enough to end up meeting them by touring around the country.
2/9 – Houston, TX
Fitzgeralds w/ Turbokrieg, God Fearing Fuck, Hel-razor
There were a group of kids here who had been going to In Defence shows for last 4 years, since they were roughly 13/14. Now they’re in their late teens. It’s crazy to see people who go to your shows literally grow up in front of you. We tour through every part of the U.S. at least once a year, and so it’s almost like growing up with the kids who keep coming out to the shows in a way too. I could talk about how insane this is all day, but in short I think that’s really fucking cool. Massive nachos were eaten after the show. I ate copious amounts of guac in true Vegan warrior fashion.
2/10 – New Orleans, LA
Siberia w/ Fat Stupid Ugly People, The Pallbearers, Los Ninos Molestos
Walked around French quarter. It was the “slow” day of Mardi Gras, so not much going on. Went inside a strip club to use bathroom, bartender yelled 1 drink minimum at us and we left. Kevin kept talking to strangers the entire night.
2/13 – St Petersburg, FL
Fubar Downtown w/ Generichrist, Mosquito Teeth, The Scurvy
Showed up to the venue and they had a taco spread for us. Crowd was awesome. Random guy who used the bathroom was insistent that I pee in the sink while he pissed in the toilet. I told him I only tandem piss with people I’ve built a solid rapport with, and even then the people involved have to be special. He was bummed I didn’t pee with him. Went to The Castle after our set and danced the night away. Serious goth hangs. Ben wore his booty shorts and got whipped at the whipping post.
The next morning we started the day going to Cracker Barrel. I paid $3 for the “seasonal fresh fruit” which consisted of two pineapple cubes, 3 blueberries and two blackberries. Went to Taco Bus before heading out of town so I could grab more grub, dude standing in front of me in the line was talking on the phone about how he had a Tinder date later. He turned around and I saw he had a massive cold sore on his upper lip. Perfect for Valentine’s Day.
2/17 – Orlando, FL
We arrived in Orlando and after loading into the venue some guy off the street came in and started yelling at the bar owner about 17 kilos of coke. Whole thing was sketchy as fuck. Uhhhhhh.
2/18 – Gainesville, FL
Ben fractured his foot playing kiddie basketball. He is probably the only adult in recorded history to have done so. Ate rad Cuban food after the show and danced to rad goth jamz.
2/20 – Knoxville, TN
Show up to the space and the people there have Beavis and Butthead playing on the TV continuously. I knew then and there we were gonna get along just fine. Van got covered in freezing rain, roads were crazy icy. Show ruled. Knoxville rules. Poison Lawn rules.
2/21 – Nashville, TN
On the way to Nashville saw multiple semis flipped over in the ditch, total carnage. Fucked up ice. Jazzi and Jessie rule. Fell asleep watching X-Files.
2/22 – St. Louis, MO
Ben convinced half a dozen people in the crowd to shave their head. Shit was dangerous. Don’t know if he should front a thrash band or be a cult leader. Fell asleep watching X-Files again.
2/23 – Columbia, MO
Columbia, MO is one of my favorite places to play in the entire world. This place has always treated us super well, and I literally have never played a bad show there. We lent our drummer to our friend’s Alec and Zac because their band had to cancel, unfortunately. Dani played one song with them and it ruled super hard. The energy from shows like tonight cannot ever be matched. Makes all the broken feet, busted hands, van problems and other un-pleasantness associated with touring worth it. Bodily harm is par for the course for In Defence tours. In the past our members have had their thumbs broken, feet gashed open, foreheads split open and much, much more all while playing. But at the end of the day, even with all that, I can’t think of anything else I’d rather be doing. This is what makes us happy and gives us a true sense of fulfillment. Can’t ask for much more than that.
