We’re pleased to bring you the exclusive stream of Sports Reference‘s new song “Fragile” (listen below). The track is taken from the band’s forthcoming EP Blue Room, being released on cassette through Killer Robot Music on March 8th.
The band comments on the song:
“Funny enough, ‘Fragile’ is actually one of our ‘lighter’ songs in that the music is light and catchy. But the opposite can be said of the lyrical side. I wrote the lyrics to this song during a really tough part of last year when my father was dying. The song is about how I was feeling during the whole process, how I was conflicted with feelings of sadness and apathy towards the situation. But ultimately I got through the situation and was able to use the experience to write this song.”
The band will have their EP release show at Nowhere Venue in Gainesville, FL.
Sports Reference formed in mid 2015 when roommates Jeremy McGuire and Joey Johnson decided to start writing songs together while Jeremy was on a small break from his other band Machinist!. They decided they wanted to write more melodic songs, but still wanted to have the energy of a punk band. The band recorded their upcoming EP Blue Room with Levi Hamilton at Audio Boogie Studios in Brunswick, GA in the fall of 2015.
