Rick Spitalsky comments on the DIY video:
“I wrote the song ‘Reindeer Boots’ after a girl I had been dating moved out of my house. You know how when you are living with or dating someone you always have those built-in plans and expectations? Suddenly I found myself with nothing to do, and feeling as though I had given my best years to a failed relationship. I was pretty sad about the situation, so I would try to sleep away as much time as possible. A few years passed and I eventually moved on, but I still found myself haunted by these really annoying dreams about small details like the reindeer faux fur boots she had when we met, or her emerald green necklace, found nestled between my couch cushions. My intentions with the video were to present a character who discovers himself older and hardened by life after years of ignoring. But then, when you look closely (deep within the pixels of the TV) you can see the youthfulness and hope inside. Maybe as the video ends, he is reminded of the person he was, or maybe that person is forever lost.”
