New Jersey duo Fond Han have premiered another single from their upcoming release Sham Cloud. The single, “ID/DV” is a wild ride of eclectic music tastes spinning through a short two minute track. The single is perhaps yet another brilliant clash of ‘art-rock’ that has become apparently attractive across the indie scene. Sham Cloud is to be released via Exploding In Sounds Records on September 23rd.
For Sham Cloud, Fond Han decided to mix a variety of elements into the album. There’s the calm side with twisting, clear guitars contrasted by maddening drum patterns or the spastically abrasive vocals patterns that ride over calming progressions. It’s jazz influenced while also maintaining a rock glam to it. Sham Cloud features intelligently crafted tunes that don’t are not limited to one particular genre. Instead, Fond Han encompass a variety of styles to create a record that unexpectedly finds ways to keep listeners at the edge of their seats.
Back in 2014, Fond Han released their debut EP, a split cassette with Mattress Financial(Two Inch Astronaut’s Sam Rosenberg), but a lot has changed for Thomas Baumann’sproject in the years since. Originally a lo-fi solo endeavor, Fond Han quickly expanded into a band as Baumann was joined by Kira McDonald and a revolving cast of musicians. Still raw and weird, the band’s sound has been fleshed out and fully realized.
