“I’ve lived with depression and anxiety since I was 16 years old, but at some point during the first half of 2017 I started having suicidal thoughts for the first time and it totally knocked me out of sync. Unfortunately, this song didn’t make as much sense to me when I wrote it in October last year as it does now, and by the start of December I realised that I’d ran out of distractions, and I started feeling selfish for using hanging out with people as one. By Christmas time, it suddenly seemed like it was time to tap out.
To cut a long story short, my exit plan didn’t quite work out. I’m now glad it didn’t. I wish I’d said something sooner and had been able to remember that this being alive thing can totally be worth it. I want to keep it up, and I’m now doing all I can to keep it up. So, aye. Let’s all be horny for life, try not to die and have a lovely time.
