Show Review: Spotlights at Cafe Colonial in Sacramento, CA

Pittsburgh-based band Spotlights has a lot going for them this year with their new album, Alchemy for the Dead, out on Ipecac Records, and opening for Melvins and Mr. Bungle later this month for Ipecac Geek Show. The band delivers moody atmospheric doom metal with shoegaze within their sound that the room of the venue felt like an apocalyptic earthquake along with their own slick lighting to backlight the trio. Seeing a band like this in Sacramento, California, at Cafe Colonial in a small room will seem like this will be the only time to catch them up close and personal, as they have also been opening up for bands like Deftones and Quicksand. I would recommend keeping an eye on this band because they are going to be a big deal in the future.
