Get Out. Tease ‘War Chest’ EP, Part Ways with Drummer Greg Allen

New York high octane hard rock outfit Get Out. have started to tease their forthcoming EP, War Chest. The upcoming effort, which will come hot on the heels of their debut Let Me In LP, is rumored to be a lot heavier than its predecessor. The EP, whose release date is still pending, is rumored to feature guests such as Paul “Ablaze” of Blackguard, Mike Score of All Out War, among others TBA. As with Let Me In, art for War Chest will be once again handled by Chris Smith of Grey Aria Design (Hollow Earth, Vulture, Black Yo)))ga).

In related news, the band have parted ways with drummer Greg Allen. Vocalist Morgan Ywain Evans comments:

“We wish Greg the best. Love our debut record though moving forward we are expanding to some heavier territory while still including some of the rock elements already displayed. Greg is busy with his sound career and, to keep it civil, we felt there wasn’t enough urgency for the band. As a result of letting him engineer the record the completion of the album took months longer than expected. There was even some lost enthusiasm and people who didn’t even show up on mix day when it finally arrived. Obviously no active band can really function well on that kind of dragged out clock.”

Evans continues: “That said, we wish him good luck. While we might not survive as long, we admire how the band Shai Hulud or even Murphy’s Law adapted with various line ups to challenges yet nonetheless kept momentum going and overcame obstacles. We are currently testing out various candidates on drums and second guitar, as ex-guitarist Jeremy Swift also is out of the band due to injury and being more focused on his blues funk/ power pop band The Beautiful Bastards. But we are completely fine. Our next EP War Chest will showcase our soon to be much heavier side to go with the more alternative rock, hard rock and stoner influences on Let Me In. We have some material written already and it rips absolute ass.”

Guest drummers have already been announced for the band’s upcoming shows. Dave Tetreault of Lara Hope & The Ark Tones will play the 2/27 date at Kingston , NY’s The Anchor opening for Rolling Stone acclaimed Vajra and grunge revivalists Surmiser. Anthony Bax of Sabbath Observers Shadow Witch will fill in for an upcoming TBA debut Brooklyn appearance for Get Out., with a lot more shows planned for early Spring.

“My friend Nate Kelley who was in Shabutie/Coheed and some bands with me prior to Get Out. almost was able to do it, which would have been like old times,” says Evans. “Nate had a family obligation though and so I am thrilled Dave and Anthony will fill in while we push through this transit. Dave plays in a rockabilly style band now but we used to get drunk at house parties ignoring people and talking about Judas Priest. He was in a sick death metal band Cold War Survivor who never got enough love. And Anthony hits harder and has a better pocket than most drummers in the stoner scene I have heard in awhile.”

Further details on the EP is expected to be unveiled in the coming weeks, along with a lyric video for the track “Seven Heavens” via Spin Kick Productions.
