Glass beach have released their long-awaited sophomore album, plastic death, via Run For Cover Records. A stunning, transformative creation across 13 tracks, the band pull from indie rock, jazz, prog, hardcore, metal, experimental, and beyond.
Plastic death showcases some of the band’s most dynamic experimentation to date. Featuring songs such as “rare animal” and “the CIA,” the album includes multilayered elements that boasts their inventive and abstract approach in instrumentation and lyricism.
“By the end of it, it’s like a weight has been lifted off your shoulders,” explains guitarist Layne Smith. “I would like people to come away feeling like it’s going to be okay,” adds bassist Jonas Newhouse.
The band has also released a music video for the song “coelacanth.” Much like its namesake, a fish thought to be extinct for millions of years, “coelacanth” highlights the band’s triumphant return after nearly five years.
