East Nashville based rock duo Her Leather Jacket just released another banger “Cut Me Up” following their last successful track “Cloud 9.” Like “Cloud 9,” “Cut Me Up” was produced by Underoath/The Almost’s Aaron Gillespie.
There are elements of the early pop-punk scene in this track. Punk’s future is in good hands thanks to the beautifully performed vocals by Manny Blu and powerful performance of drummer Wes Snyder. They credit Blink-182, The All-American Rejects, and All Time Low as influences for their music.
“Making and performing music as I get to do with Wes is the greatest thing you can do as a musician. He is inspired by the same things as me but also brings new ideas to the table. It is something I’ve been wanting ever since I moved to Nashville,” says Manny Blu about his band member drummer Wes Snyder.
The pièce de résistance is the merging of forces with Aaron Gillespie, this is one special arrangement. This track is very catchy and will push you out of your seat.
“Cut Me Up” demonstrates Her Leather Jacket’s ability to craft a genuine and emotional narrative while highlighting their rock and pop-punk influences. Most intriguing is that country edge which gives this song an interesting vibe. I’m all for it.
This record seems to be in line with the band’s moto: “Make good fucking music, and have a good fucking time.”
