A Hope Inside has released their song “For The Weary.” A Hope Inside is a family band based in Atlanta, GA. They blend 90’s skate punk, a strong metal background, and pop-punk influenced vocals to create a unique blend of high energy, positive songs a la early Pennywise. Their music is best suited for your favorite surf or skate video as well as your next party playlist. They also aren’t afraid to include a message in their songs: each song is infused with hope, positivity, self-reflection, and the occasional warning. They don’t miss their opportunity to put great lyrics to great music, because that’s what they love to listen to.
The band is: Carlos (guitars), Cindy (vocals), Domenic, age 11 (drums) and Geo age 10 (guitars, bass). Recently a family friend joined them, and now they’re a 5 piece band with Brandon on guitars and bass as well. You can catch them playing regularly in and around Atlanta, and find them at www.ahopeinside.com.
In high school, Carlos lost two friends to suicide, and the pain, confusion, grief, anger, and sadness would not subside and would affect Carlos for the rest of his life. One of those suicides happened because of a prank, and it shows just how cruel we can be to each other. Cindy was also affected by the loss of her friend in high school and that loss sticks with her to this day. This song captures what we would have said to those friends if we had a chance to speak to them once more before they left us. The recent tragedy of Chris Cornell, who connects us to our high school days, brought back all that pain and suffering right to the forefront and we couldn’t sit idly by and not try to help others.
Once they started writing music, Cindy and Carlos both felt strongly they had to share the message of hope that they believe can counteract thoughts of suicide. However they realize that those thoughts can run deeper than personal feelings, and so they will be donating 10% of all sales of this song to the AFSP to help fund research into suicide and provide more help for those living too close to the edge. Life is inherently hopeful, and far too many people forget that hope and give up too soon, leaving behind people who will suffer the pain of their loss the rest of their lives. Don’t give up! Take heart, appreciate the words in this song, and keep living to fight another day.
