Interview: Insolvency’s Dream Come True

Insolvency

France has been the breeding ground for some amazing, heavy artists such as Chunk! No, Captain Chunk! and Gojira but now, we get to look at the group that is following their footsteps, regardless of being thrown into an unending pandemic. Meet Insolvency; taking advantage of the apparent shortcomings of global isolation and putting together an album ready to teach you exactly how foreboding life can be. The group’s sophomore album “Illusional Gates,” is out now.

It actually was inspired by our teenage days,” shares bassist / vocalist Pierre Challouet. “[We] had to do the first one to realize [we should] bring more maturity to make an album more personal [like this one].

Taking on the daunting task of putting out a full record, let alone your second one, is tough enough, but throw in the likes of what is happening today and it almost seems too much to overcome. Not for Insolvency. New rules dictate a new way to play the game and the group took it to the next level. During the lockdown, the band decided to reach out to their “dream” vocalists for possible collaboration on songs for the new record and fate reached right back out in the form of Fit for a King’s Ryan Kirby (live on their Twitch channel – https://www.twitch.tv/ryankirbz) and Thy Art is Murder’s CJ McMahon. A dream now come true and a fresh, stunning new album to boot is the exact reason Insolvency is here to stay.

(Antagonism of the Soul) was very important to us because we faced many situations [side by] side and we could share it all together. We [are] happy to have put our emotions in everything we could on this [new] album. We could work on every detail because during the lockdown, we had more time for this. So, we took advantage to improve, despite the situation and we were happy [with] what we could bring on [this record]. We can’t wait for people to listen to it.
