Keith Brock & The Kings Who Rock, a supergroup featuring members of Supertramp, Carlos Santana, Blues Traveler, Queen, and Lenny Kravitz, are here just in time for 420 with their single “Mary Jane Farmer, out on their first, self-titled album to be released this summer.
What was the writing and recording process like for the new album?
It was a literally a journey across the entire West Coast. I wrote and recorded these songs starting in OC (Orange County) and then Las Vegas, taking it up to Seattle and finally back to LA (Los Angeles). We recorded in a lot of world-class studios and had a great time doing it.

What are you most excited about with this new project and your first song?
Playing and recording with all of these amazing musicians and making original music was a highlight for sure!

You’re a supergroup because of all your previous affiliations. How do you hope to bring that influence into your new music?
I believe it happens naturally; I think you can really hear the influences of all kinds of different music in our new music. It’s a melting pot of rock ‘n’ roll.

420 just passed in quarantine. How did you all celebrate and keep the fun going?
Well sadly, we had to cancel our big show in Anaheim, which was a true disappointment, as it was going to be an amazing night with lots of musical guests. So instead, we went on an interview with the U.S. Weed Channel and brought a little bit of that party to the world. We debuted our single “Mary Jane Farmer” on 4/20/20 at 4:20 p.m., so we ushered in a new century of weed with that song.

What can we expect from you all over the next few months, and what are your longer-term plans?
As per the whole world, we are all very unsure of our shor- term plans due to the pandemic. I can tell you that we are in the final mixing process of our new album and hope to release it by this summer 2020. Our long-term plans are to bring our party and music to the road and start living life to its fullest again.

What are you most looking forward to doing after quarantine measures let up? Finishing the mixing of our album.
7. Is there anything else you’d like to add? We hope and wish that everyone stays healthy and safe and is patient with the recovery process of this pandemic, so that we all can get back to a normal way of life again.
