Luke Reyvn

Luke Reyvn is an alternative-pop artist who has recently released a new track, “Another Day.”

The track is accompanied by a glowing video portraying standout visuals across the track.

We got the chance to chat with Reyvn about the new song, how his past influences his future in music and more.

You’ve recently released a video for your new single “Another Day,” the track highlights pop-beats with dark undertones. What influences your writing and musical dynamics when writing songs?

LUKE: Besides the obvious influence I get from other artists and musicians, as I hope one day they get from me, I gather a lot of inspiration from life experiences and circumstances I faced throughout my teenage and young adult years. My writing heavily reflects where I’m at in life, and depending on the day, I might feel inspired to write about something I’m currently going through or something that’s happened in the past that I’m looking to find closure on. However, I do also write about things that may not have directly happened to me but have happened to either a loved on or friend that I feel have importance to my experience and the experience of my listeners.

Tell us about the music video for “Another Day.” How do the visuals and the scenes correspond with the lyrics of the song and what you are trying to convey with it?

LUKE: The “Another Day” music video was built in a way that could convey the message and emotions written into the song, through an easy to follow and relatable story. Visually you can see that the video displays a man and a women who were once in a “happy relationship,” but over time started to realize that not everything was as amazing as they wanted it to be, which led to the climax of the video in the form of a frantic fight scene with both people going their separate ways in the end. The whole video is a metaphor for the initial meaning of song, which was my journey to finding my purpose through music and having to separate myself from my childish ways and behaviors in order to better my life. Basically the the relationship represents my past and that even though it was hard to let go of, it was the only way for me to find my greater purpose.

It’s been noted that you’ve faced grueling obstacles as a teen. Do these struggles have an impact on how you create music?

LUKE: Yes, absolutely. A lot of my songs draw heavy influence from these struggles. Including my battle with mental health, addiction, and the feeling of isolation caused by the choices I was making. I feel that it’s extremely important for me to share these hardships and my experience with hitting rock bottom, which was what actually gave me the willpower to make the changes necessary to clean up my act and start pursuing music in the first place. I hope that through my vulnerability and honesty I will be able to connect with my audience and even give support to those who might be struggling with similar issues.

How do you feel as you approach the release of your debut album this year?

LUKE: I’m extremely excited, obviously! Putting together a project for me is a massive goal and milestone which I’m working towards everyday. I’ve put so much into creating the singles I’ve released and even the ones that haven’t come out yet still carry the same message I’m advocating so strongly through my music. All I want is to make music that positively impacts my listeners and supports them in their healing process, as it continues to do for me. So when it comes to releasing an album, I really want to put together a project that portrays who I am as an artist and why I’m so dedicated to my music. As well as obviously to provide amazing entertainment for all my supporters!

What other details can you give about the new single?

LUKE: Besides the fact that I think this is a great song that carries a lot of meaningful and relatable messages for myself and my listeners, it’s also the first record I’ve released being now L.A. based, so for me it feels like the product of something I’ve been working for insanely hard the last couple years!

Across your social media platforms you seem to showcase a darker aesthetic, with underlying punk accents. Do you feel the your music carries some of those same darker, punk aesthetics and imagery?

LUKE: As far as my music goes, I tend to write about a lot of very real and sometimes dark things that have happened through my life. So naturally I like to actually portray that thought the content I make. Also, if I’m being honest, this world and life itself can just be a very dark place and thing to begin with, so when making music that’s so “real life” driven for me, obviously these darker accents come through. Also, as far as my aesthetic goes, I’ve just always been a total scene kid so for me dressing like I do has always just been a natural thing and what feels most comfortable and genuine to me.

What else can fans and new listeners expect from you as we make our way through 2022?

LUKE: They can absolutely expect a lot more music coming from me as well as some really cool collaborations! As well as more exciting and engaging content through my social media platforms and corresponding music video! Also, I’m extremely excited that after these last couple years it’s finally becoming a safer and healthier environment for live entertainment. So they can expect to so me doing live shows, content, and whatever else I can do to connect and meet with my amazing supporters!
