Mark Tremonti has had it all, from touring the world over with Creed to being an unstoppable force with Alter Bridge. Now, he turns his focus to the January 10 release of The End Will Show Us How, the sixth album from solo project turned full-fledged band Tremonti, via Napalm Records.

“We’ve been sitting on this record for quite some time now,” admits Tremonti. “That’s the toughest part, but it’s also the most exciting part. When you have a record done, (you) are anticipating how people are going to enjoy it, hopefully. I was talking to my bus driver yesterday and he told me stories about driving Andy Williams, who I love, and he recorded 43 records, so it puts it into perspective how hard those guys work.”

While Tremonti is known mostly for his guitar skills, he had stepped out of his comfort zone when being slated as the vocalist when Tremonti first started in 2011. Almost 15 years later, and just about to be six albums deep, he has been able to create an album that showcases a journey through themes such as resilience, perspective, and clarity, as well as observations regarding the state of the world today. Tremonti mentions there is an underlying theme of “the end,” and it pops up all throughout the record, whether in the bridge of “One More Time,” or in the title track “The End Will Show Us How.”

“Once I decided that was going to be the album, I tried to interweave ‘the end’ throughout the lyrics of the record. So, if you now look back now that I’ve said that, and look throughout the lyrics, you’ll see ‘the end’ comes up quite a bit.”

Tremonti tapped longtime producer Michael “Elvis” Baskette (Alter Bridge / Sevendust / Chevelle) and returned to Studio Barbosa in Orlando to create what Tremonti believes to be one of the best pieces of work he’s produced yet. Not only did he think Baskette had upgraded his mixing abilities, but he also was lucky enough to use some great gear, including his signature PRS Mark Tremonti MT 100 Tube Guitar Amp Head for the sonic framework.

“The sound of this record is one of the most impressive records I’ve ever been a part of,” admits Tremonti. “He has a new board. Funny thing, when I did the Sinatra record, (2022’s Mark Tremonti Sings Frank Sinatra), I tried the original U47 that Frank would have used on his records, and it just so happens Elvis bought the Wunder audio board for his studio and it just sounds incredible. I mean, when I heard the mixes, I was blown away. This record just sounds amazing.”

Over the last 30 years, Tremonti has gained legendary notoriety for his work, but he is always learning something new and trying to figure out how to channel it into his music, which doesn’t seem to be slowing down any time soon. Now, sitting on his 19th full-length between all his projects, he still boils it down to the basics.

“Every step of the way treads a new path for you. When I did the Sinatra thing, it really changed my approach to vocals. If you learn a new guitar technique, it’s going to change your approach to guitar soloing. The more you learn, the more you can be an artist and use what you’ve learned for future use.”
