Interview: Necrowretch on ‘The Ones From Hell’

Necrowretch’s The Ones From Hell, out now via Season of Mist, is for fans of true, ripping blackened death that doesn’t hold back. We caught up with the band about their new record and plans for touring this year.

What was the writing and recording process like for this record?
Vlad : We spent almost one year to write the album; we took a lot of time to improve the songs over and over within many pre-production demos. The album was recorded in Blackout Studios in Brussels and mastered in West West Side Studios in NYC.

What are some of the lyrical themes on this album?
Our lyrical content is strongly connected with the history of religions and Middle East tales. It’s also an invitation to think by yourself regardless of your kind or your origin.

How does this differ from previous works?
The Ones From Hell comes with more maturity, both in the songwriting but also within producing music as a band. The music comes with more space, and yet it’s brutal. We can express ourselves much more than in the past.

Do you have any touring coming up in support of the album?
We will tour in Europe this March and April, then play the amazing Hellfest festival in France this summer. More festivals and shows are on the way for the end of the year.

Purchase the album here.
