Escuela Grind seem to thrive on perpetual motion. It seems every day on Instagram, they are posting shots of a prior night’s show. Every day. Plus, they still have their name in multitudes of mouths from last year’s on-most-every-Best-Of-Metal-2022 list from the scorching, Memory Theater, on MNRK Heavy.
“We still feel just as hyped up about the songs on Memory Theater as when we wrote them” enthuses drummer Jesse Fuentes. “It may be due to the fact that we wrote these songs during quarantine with a real emphasis on how people could move to them in a live setting. Having the opportunity to play these songs in countless cities now has been such an amazing experience. We get to see the reactions we wrote into these songs come to fruition.”
Those songs—compounded heaps of death metal, grindcore, power-violence, thrash, hardcore—are raw and rapid. The conviction and passion and anger coalesce into a sound much needed. And their fans live for this.
“The album keeps on growing and we’re so grateful to people sharing the songs and bringing friends to our shows to catch us for the first time,” says Fuentes. “One of the most positive aspects of the album’s reception has been the influx of new fans from the hardcore and death metal communities.”

This rolling stone entity has never had a mote of moss on the members. Since their formation in 2017 they have spat out EPs, demos, and major LPs. In five short years, these young noses on grindstones have culled nothing but respect from every generation.
“We just returned from a four-and-a-half-week tour across Europe and the UK alongside Napalm Death, DropDead, and Siberian Meat Grinder,” says Fuentes. “It’s near impossible to pick a highlight from that tour because every night was surreal playing alongside one of the main bands to ever inspire us.”
The bands ethos is as vicious as their riffs. Play. Destroy. Repeat. Having established this, it is of no surprise that Escuela Grind’s second half of 2023 sounds familiar.
“Expect to see us touring the whole USA and Canada,” promises Fuentes. “We will return to Europe and the UK again in the fall, so keep your eyes out for the dates and venues coming soon. And we will be releasing a special Death Metal EP with a video. Busy year and we appreciate everyone who has helped us get here!”
