We’re pleased to bring you the premiere of Kanadia’s music video for their new single “Ocean Blue”(watch it below). The band commented on the song & video:
“Recording ‘Ocean Blue’ was an adventurous experience for the band, both tracking the audio live in the studio and shooting the video itself. Both aspects to us were about maintaining dynamic. In the studio we went as far as to use metal chair legs as percussion. We shot the video locally at O2 Academy Oxford, working closely with director Marcus Parker-Wood. We wanted to start with a performance video and went all out with the lighting; two huge visual walls and the venue’s lighting rig seemed to have got us there in the end. We definitely put in the hours to get it right. ‘Ocean Blue’ sets the tone of what is to come from our forthcoming album”
Kanadia are a 4-piece alternative rock band based in Oxford. After releasing their debut self-titled EP in late 2015. Throughout 2016 Kanadia began to steadily build a fan base and an exciting reputation for their “stadium sized” live shows.
Their sound has been described by BBC Introducing as ‘built for the big stage.’ Nightshift Magazine has likened Kanadia to artists such as Radiohead, U2, Jeff Buckley and Muse. Ronan Munro, editor of Nightshift Magazine since 1991 (Radiohead, Glass Animals, Foals) predicts a big future for Kanadia.
Their early performances around the established Oxford band circuit were well received by Oxford’s musicians and promoters. From there the band took a DIY attitude to gigging by organising their own shows and including their favourite bands on the bill. These shows took place at legendary venues such as Jericho Tavern, The Bullingdon and The Cellar.
After performing several shows at O2 Academy Oxford, the regional Academy Music Group manager and booking agent decided to get behind the band and manage their future bookings.
In May 2017 Kanadia earned themselves a slot at Bestival’s Common People on a line up that included Foals, Rag n Bone man, Pete Tong and Groove Armada.
