In the months since the announcement that the Lingua Ignota moniker is coming to an end, the artist has been touring, promoting her new label Perpetual Flame Ministries, and even doing a couple blowout multi-day showcases domestically and internationally. After what seems like a proper send-off for such an impactful and incredible project, it is a pleasure to announce that the next chapter has finally come to light.
Introducing the Reverend Kristin Michael Hayter, the new project from the multifaceted artist that will be releasing her first album, SAVED!, on October 20 via Perpetual Flame Ministries.
She has described the project as “an apocalyptic revelation on the complex, sometimes ugly, always nonlinear process of healing. It documents an earnest attempt to achieve salvation through the tenets of charismatic Christianity, focusing on the Pentecostal-Holiness Movement, which dictates that one’s closeness to God is demonstrated through transcendental personal experience.”
For longtime fans, this project may be a little jarring, as it is quite a departure from her material as Lingua Ignota. Instead of the large, spacious arrangements she previously utilized, the material is much more stripped back. Consisting mostly of piano and vocals that are then degraded through 4-track and broken cassette player recordings. Recorded by Seth Manchester at Machines With Magnets, it has a brilliant apocalyptic quality to it, using very intentional and impactful production choices throughout all of the tracks.
