MALLRAT Debut New EP Live at Brooklyn’s Silent Barn on Dec. 15

every breath a fracture is the first full-band EP from Brooklyn, New York, emo trio, MALLRAT. Vocalist and guitarist Melo Davis says, “I wrote these songs about re-experiencing trauma while entering new relationships, struggling to hold my friends’ pain as I move through my own, and grounding myself in queer community.” The every breath a fracture EP will premiere on AFROPUNK on Dec. 2 and be available via the band’s Bandcamp page.

MALLRAT will celebrate the EP’s release with an all-ages show at Silent Barn in Brooklyn on Thursday, Dec. 15. Doors open at 8 p.m. The record release will be a QTPOC-centered show with performances by Cristy C. Road, SHIRA, April Mei, and MALLRAT, with visuals by Mars Ganito (of Aye Nako). The event is $10 suggested donation with no one turned away for lack of funds.

“I usually book really small shows in my apartment and was inspired by the feeling of hanging out in my friends’ homes and sharing music in that context,” Melo explains. “I wanted to break from how Silent Barn feels to me on most nights, both by bringing in amazing QTPOC artists and rearranging and redecorating the space. I want the room to have an ocean/outer space theme—like if you lived in an underwater moon garden or if you were an alien who crash landed on Earth and fell in love with a mermaid—and I’ve enlisted the help of my earth sign friend, so I know it’s going to be cozy.”

More info can be found on the show’s Facebook event page.
