Welsh-born, New York-based artist Matt Hitt has released the official video for “Carried Away,” a standout from his debut solo EP You’ll Be Lucky, out now via Killphonic Records. The jangly, uptempo single was produced by Timothy Lanham of The Vaccines and reflects Hitt’s melodic and melancholic take on life in New York.

Shot in Topanga Canyon, the video leans into the single’s restless energy with a visual concept centered around kite flying. “We filmed the video in Topanga with the vague idea that flying a kite would somehow relate to getting carried away,” Hitt said. “Unfortunately, as you can see, there wasn’t much wind that day.”

You’ll Be Lucky takes its name from a phrase Hitt’s father often used, expressing doubt with a dash of dark humor. The five-track project wrestles with that sentiment, reflecting on disappointment, nostalgia, and the fragile optimism that defines getting older.

After leading indie rock band Drowners and touring with The Vaccines, Hitt steps into his own as a solo artist on the new EP. His next live appearance will be a headlining show at Baby’s All Right in Brooklyn on December 8 at 9 PM.
