Tech metal veterans Meshuggah have released a new song, “Born In Dissonance.” The track is the first single released from their upcoming record, The Violent Sleep Of Reason. This is the Swedish act’s eighth record, being released on October 7th via Nuclear Blast. As usual, “Born In Dissonance” finds Meshuggah utilizing choppy riffs mixed in with atypical polyrhythms. The vocals retain their usual coarse screams, while the instrumentals continue their dominant heaviness that has been attributed to the band since their inception.
Thomas Haakes comments about the track, “Basically, the whole idea of why we chose the title is it kinda connects with the lyrical content of the album. Which is to a fair degree about current events and what you see is going on as far as terrorism today, extremist views on ideals, and religious dogma and the violent implications that you get from being asleep so to speak and not acting/reacting to what is going on in the proper way”
