Mitski’s highly anticipated new album has a title and release date.
Puberty 2 will be out June 17 via Dead Oceans, the follow-up to 2014’s Bury Me At Makeout Creek. First single “Your Best American Girl” is an outsized rocker that lyrically finds Mitski commenting on the overt whiteness and maleness of the underground punk scene. She said via press release, “I wanted to use those white-American-guy stereotypes as a Japanese girl who can’t fit in, who can never be an American girl.” Listen below.
