With dark encircling licks and a boundary pushing drum line, Astragal are here to premiere the music video for their song “Moderne Luxury.” The -gaze band out of Houston, Texas wander through the air with a delight in tone, atmosphere and rhythmic sensation. It’s no wonder some of the members met at a DIIV show, having a great knack for writing interesting compositions that twirl effortlessly. The song is off of their II EP, which can be purchased here!
Astragal began like how all things in Houston, Texas begin. Out of thin air, dust, and the cities
concrete clad ether. Having met on craigslist and in person at a DIIV show, the Houston trio
became best friends over a shared interest in playing post-punk music with a jazz ethos, yet
with the mission of denying the elitism of those genres. Honing in on their sound during a trip in
North Carolina, the trio found a love for jangly guitar tones, groovy bass riffs, and persistent
in-the pocket drums.
