New Noise Magazine is pleased to be bringing forth the exclusive premiere of “Names in the Pavement” from Losing Language. The song is off of the upcoming debut Truth & Trust.
“Names in the Pavement’ was the third song that was written for our upcoming debut record “In Trust & Trust”.. When the band started, it was just Steve on drums and me (Austin) on guitar for the first few months. At that time Steve and I were only jamming together for a few months, we were both out of our element as far as him being a pretty new drummer and me testing the waters of songwriting. But, I remember feeling something between us click during the writing process of this song that changed the course of the entire record. Our musical bond now felt established and everything was falling into its right place. When we finished up the song, we instantly agreed that this song had to be our first single. It’s a shorter song with a bit more repetition to it than the other ones on the album, which might make it a bit easier to digest for people who aren’t too fond of “screamier” music. I also think it foreshadows a few different elements that are present throughout the entire album. Hopefully it’ll draw people to listen to the album in its entirety. Lyrically, it’s pretty much my version of a love song. It’s really about learning how to be vulnerable to somebody to the point of feeling empowered by them. While also giving them your all even if it takes everything out of you in one way or another. Cause that’s the price we pay, right? That’s really what I tried to get across visually with the music video, so I hope it speaks for itself and I’m just really glad to be able to share it with the world finally. I’d like to thank our good friend Joe Cassidy over at 1993 Film Co. for helping me execute the music video the way I envisioned it. I’d also like to thank everyone over at New Noise for giving us the light of day and premiering the video!”
