New Noise Magazine is pleased to be bringing forth “Dopamine” by Next Year. The song revolves around energetic riffs, throwing them around the instrumentals with power and ease. The mid section of the song is reflective, carefully breathing before breaking into the next downbeat section. Take a listen below and find the song on the upcoming EP Waterfalls, out on August 30th.
“We feel our new single ‘Dopamine’ is where we’ve really found our sound. It merges our mixed influences, has riffs, solid drumming, catchy vocal melodies and harmonies.
The song is about modern technology and self-inflicted depression and anxiety from people comparing the “behind the scenes” of their lives with the “highlight reel” of social media influencers and trying to lead fake lives. This ties in with the music video, showing how fake lives have been portrayed throughout the years. And also a bunch of clips of us playing live and recording the EP ‘Waterfalls’ which the track is taken from” – Next Year
