Music Video Premiere: Romy – “Broken Halo”

ROMY

A renaissance creationist with a passion for diving into listeners melodic psyche, Romy is a presence to be felt on “Broken Halo.” The haunting warbling of this track breathes with a dissonant pop, swirling in a digital landscape of art. The tune and its accompanying music video can be viewed below. The catchy beats resonate well with the spacial atmosphere that Romy introduces. Stay tuned for April 12th when her release, Celluloid Self is released on C L I M A X ! Records!

“The video is a cinematic experience, much like the album itself. Creating a slow building narrative was important to both myself and director Samuel Bennetts. The video is a revenge, a reckoning with self, an ode to ritual, and a resolve for women as a collective….angel turned supernatural, murderous matriarch.” – Romy

While on tour with the band, she discovered Hip Hop music. For the next few years, under the moniker MACROMANTICS, Romy made a couple of hip hop records. Highly regarded and praised for her intense, commanding punk tinged performances, her album ‘Moments in Movement,’ was the first Australian release, and Hip Hop album to be signed to legendary Indy label Kill Rock Stars(Sleater Kinney, Bikini Kill, Elliot Smith). She toured with artists such as Deerhoof, Mika Miko, Sage Francis, Dizzee Rascal, Lily Allen and Peaches.
