New Noise Magazine is pleased to be bringing forth the exclusive premiere of “Trouble Child” by Rotten Mind. The song has an eerie beginning, opening up into a landscape of twangy guitars and a high range of vocal melodies. The drums really drive the chord progressions, bringing out an urgency to the song’s pace. The video perfectly captures the mood and aesthetic of the song, which can be viewed below. Be prepared for Fading Into Oblivion, the band’s upcoming release, out via Lovely Records on September 7th.
“Mikael Lindqvist, who also did the front cover of the album, and I did this video in just a couple of days. When we did the video we tried to capture the story behind the lyrics at first, to get a glimpse of the life in Uppsala. But when we had been filming for a while we decided to just film whatever we came across and see what we get. We got shots of friends at a punk show, friends who put up posters for concerts in the city and stuff like that. It basically is a night in Uppsala. So, in the end, I think it fits perfect with the song. Mikael really has special eyes when it comes to capture moments in photos and videos in his own way. ” – Jacob Arvidsson, Rotten Mind
There is a bleak loner persona over Rotten Mind. A feeling about outgrowing and exceeding in both integrity and elegance. An impression that dwells in the shadows and embraces the nightfall. It´s there somewhere in a modernized 80´s versatility between UK-acts as The Vibrators, The Adverts and US-bands as Christian Death and T.S.O.L that we will find the dark and energetic Swedes in Rotten Mind. A band that at the same time perhaps is best to be placed side by side with contemporary acts as Crusades, Iceage, Radioactivty, Metz or High Tension Wires.
Rotten Mind started in 2015 and recorded their debut album ’Im Alone Even With You’ after just three months. The band got featured in both Noisey and NME before the release. Since then the band has tried to stay at the roads as much as possible. Most countries in Europe have been visited and the band has also toured Australia. The band has since then recorded and released a darker and more introvert same-titled second album, released by Lövely Records in 2017. During fall 2018, the band returns with their third album ’Fading Into Oblivion’. Recorded and produced by Lars Kennhed at Communichaos the third album holds both the raw punk vibes from the band’s debut as well as a darker and more new wave feeling. The band have been endlessly touring and have turned into one of the best live acts from Sweden, holding a captivating presence that leaves no one unaffected.
