New Noise Magazine is pleased to be bringing forth the exclusive music video of “Self-Centered” by Stealing Home. The song is full of incredibly written hooks. The emotionally driven tune rides on the theme of growth, wrapping around a central refrain with bright instrumentals. Take a listen to the pop laden song below, and find the tune off of the EP, The View From Home.
“Stealing Home as a band is really about realizing that home isn’t really a place it’s a feeling, and doing whatever it takes to remind yourself that you are in charge of how you feel and that you can be at home in any situation.
Our EP The View From Here echoes that same sentiment through the eyes of lead singer Steven Radford. We chronicle the process of leaving behind a toxic friendship, a blooming relationship, and family issues in favor of carving out his own destiny on the west coast.
‘Self-Centered’ at its heart is about coming to terms with outgrowing someone. Many of us have been at the receiving end of someone else’s selfishness at one time or another. In this song we tell the story of two friends who have a falling out because of one persons neglect for their end of the relationship.
Ultimately our story culminates in celebrating that separation with the realization that sometimes growing apart from another person is part of growing as a person yourself.
In the video we represent these themes by way of our main character Chloe having a birthday party and waiting for her best friend Jayden to arrive. Jayden ends up bailing on her party to hangout with another group of friends but instead of letting it get the best of her Chloe ends up throwing a party for herself.”
