Here are five new albums you should check out this week!

Future Teens – “Frequent Crier”

Album: Breakup Season (Triple Crown Records)

Emo has gone through a lot of changes and waves over the past couple decades. The current wave feels as raw and honest as the emo of decades past. Take self-proclaimed “bummer pop” band Future Teens for example: they are a newer band with a modern sound, but they have all the elements people loved about 90s emo.

Frankie Cosmos – “Windows”

Album: Close It Quietly (SubPop Records)

Frankie Cosmos creates the kind of warm, bedroom pop that makes the listener feel right at home. Close It Quietly is the fourth album from the New York-based artists, and it has a sound that is quite fitting for the end of summer.

Black Star Rider – “Another State of Grace”

Album: Another State of Grace (Nuclear Blast Records)

With members of Thin Lizzy, Alice Cooper, Breaking Benjamin, and Ratt, Black Star Rider are a supergroup of hard rock musicians. Fans of any of the members’ former bands will surely love “Another State of Grace,” the title track to the band’s new album; some parts of the song hint at pirate metal, while others elicit the energetic sound of Airbourne.

Western Settings – “Break”

Album: Another Year (A-F Records)

Western Settings play a beautiful brand of melodic punk. “Break,” a track off of their new album, Another Year, has a sick buildup that makes the ending so satisfying to listen to.

OMNIGONE – “Horizontal Aggression”

Album: No Faith (Bad Times Records)

For fans of old school ska-punk, look no further than OMNIGONE. They’re short, sweet, to-the-point, and nostalgic as all get out.
